Evangelization
Evangelization
Purpose
Global Evangelism Initiative key goal is to evangelize in compliance with Jesus’ command, “…As the Father has sent me, I am sending you” (John 20:21, NIV).
This order seems to be very neglected. In fact, “90% of the people in the average church in America don’t share their faith with others” (Fay and Shepherd, 6). In addition, “154,000 Protestant churches in the U.S. reported no conversion at the end of the last century” (Reid, 184).
Need for commitment to evangelization
Evangelical Christians need to learn from past mistakes and engage more in communicating Jesus’ message of love, salvation, and hope to the lost and desperate people. This will show how care we are for the lost and how obedien
t we are to Jesus Christ’s order through the Great Commission.
Let us waste no more time, for the time to engage in the ministry of evangelization is now. There is a sense of urgency to hit the streets to do one-on-one evangelization because conversions rarely come from a church pastor’s sermon or a crusade but through sharing the good news with people you know or you meet on one-on-one evangelization. The utilization of cybernetics can be a powerful evangelization tool as well. The fact is that billions of people now have access to mobile phone and the internet.
When believers really understand the meaning of hell and the reality of living in peaceful relationship with Christ, they will strive to reach out to the lost in an attempt to win them for Christ.
